Making calligraphy is an expression of my lifelong fascination with typography and hand lettering. From an early age, I enjoyed rendering letterforms, which led me to study graphic design and typography. After years in graphic design, I transitioned to a career in illustration. Some of my most enjoyable illustration projects have involved extensive hand drawn lettering, so calligraphy naturally grew out of that interest.
In the Berkeley studio, I split time between calligraphy for special events and illustration for advertising, publishing and editorial clients. My work has been recognized by major organizations such as the AIGA and the Society of Illustrators, and has appeared in several volumes of American Illustration and in Communication Arts Illustration Annuals.
